The Idea

The Huntington Project began with a small group of friends who shared a few common ideas.

First. In order to meet the needs or our neighbors, we must first be aware of those needs.

Second. Once we know about a need, we cannot assume someone else will respond to it; we are personally responsible.

Third. We can meet needs much more efficiently when we work together.

Among other things, we are currently working with Empowering Humanities, a United Way Committee, to establish a volunteer system for the community of Huntington. This will most visibly be represented as a website where community members will be able to view current volunteer opportunities and roles, donate goods (food, clothes, furniture, money), and ultimately, meet the needs of our community.

For now, we frequently post needs that we know about on our myspace (www.myspace.com/thehuntingtonproject), our facebook group, and this web site.

So if you like our ideas, check back here every couple weeks. There will be a way for you to help out.
